Wagner Parsifal

Wagner Parsifal
Is it me, or is Parsifal out of character with the rest of the operas of Wagner?

If I'm right, what is the reason for this?

No more, so I think that saying "Die Meistersinger" is. Most of his early operas – Der fliegende Hollander "/ "Tannhäuser" / "Lohengrin" – have to do with the reason for a person in severe circumstances can only be rescued by one of the opposite sex willingness to sacrifice everything for them, or the intercession of the Divine: Senta in "Der fliegende Hollander" throws herself into the sea to release the Dutchman of his curse and save him. The Pope's personal sprouts, which means that Tannhauser has forgiven their sins, and therefore receive the redemption – But too late for heroin to witness this divine intervention. In Lohengrin, there is a divine intervention could fight for Lohengrin, but eventually overcomes good and evil heroine succumbs Elsa. The grounds of "Parsifal" are the most difficult I think for most people to understand and relate. It is a mixture of Christian values, and the Germanic tradition of Wagner's own personal struggle to understand himself, his partner or disreputable own cultural values and relevant spiritual values. Although an undeniably artistic genius, he was so prone to any of the other with regard to human failings and selfishness. So I see his last opera, especially as his attempt to redeem himself in his own eyes and in the world at large. It was certainly anti-Semitic in its early years, but honestly I think there was a real change of heart as he grew older, to exemplify, chose a Jewish director, which opens "Parsifal" and for his last years had a Jewish domestic / server, that absolutely adored him. I hope my attempts at clarification, have at least helped a little in getting a better management of this most enigmatic and certainly the most controversial figure in the history of classical music do not feel alone in seeking to understand him and his works – I think it is possible that someone ever say, "Aha!" This is Wagner! ". Alberich
