how does one achieve a state of ’samadhi” as they call it in hinduism. how do i keep my mind in this state?
i got this experience right after reading this article about how to live life without fear, self hatred and lonliness and i felt like i just realized something that ive always needed to understand. it felt like i was high only more pure and in that moment, i was at peace…
you have misunderstood your state of peace which was a result of spiritual contemplation as samadhi.
note that Samadhi is a very high state and not just a state of joy or happiness brought through little spiritual activity ..as Ranger says its a mighty difficult state to obtain and requires total dedication to spiritual pursuit- Samadhi is the state of union with God- of oneness with the all pervading brahmn- a state free of all dualities and where the self alone shines in truth
Samadhi is eventually attained by devotees(those who constantly love and serve God), karma yogis( those who perform tasks/duties as worship to God) , dhyaan yogis( those who follow eightflod yogic path and do meditaion) and other spiritual aspirants after going through many lives of spiritual pursuit and dedication
It is a very deep subject- read some Hindu or Budhdhist literatre and some great work by saints written for guidance to get a better view of the subject
To know about samadhi, sainthood and spiritual pursuit a must read book is – “An autobiography by a yogi” by Saint Paramhansa Yogananda( its an international bestseller and would be easy to procure)
