In my opinion the industry has sealed hip hop’s fate, I mean since it became a lucrative shit most of these dudes today are in it only for the money. It wasn’t always about gettin’ rich and flossin’. When the money matter became the focus, creativity and love for it started dying slowly… we have responsibility in it too… but it ain’t over or done… it’s on us to keep the real ish alive, with our love for it, supporting the real soul searching heart feeling artists, mostly of them underground. There’s some cats on the mainstream still doin’ it for love too… Kweli, Common , Def, Jurassic 5 and others.
