Why aren’t convicted killers, rapists etc. required to listen to an audio recording of the relatives of the…
victim recounting the attributes of the victim, stories of their life, how the families of the relatives were affected and hurt, the sorrow they feel…. Why shouldn’t the killer/abuser suffer a little with the families for what was done? Granted, many of these people would not be affected, but many would feel some sort of remorse when listening to the sobs of a victim, or sister/brother/parent as they recount the story of the victim’s life, and how they are affected and hurt. Yes, they have a choice to speak out in court at the trial, but how may one articulate in front of a crowd and in front of the accused? Just a thought…
Some really, really bad people might get off on knowing they’ve caused harm.
Also people who do bad stuff must think they’ll get away with it, or they wouldn’t do it in the first place.
Grief is a personal thing which the victims family may not want to share with someone like that.
