how to find my record of judgment in NY?
Back in 1998 I received this paper saying I have a judgment in Albany county but with only the attorney’s sig not the clerks. I have no record on credit reports either. I want to make sure it exists before paying anything. Since I don’t live in albany, where can I go to look if this judgment is on file in New york city not in albany. I went to this site http://iapps.courts.state.ny.us and found the attorney’s name and his other cases but not mine. The index # doesn’t show a hit either.
A 1998 case might or might not show up on the NY State Court System website. Some counties weren’t fully computerized back then.
You should be able to find out by either calling the Albany County clerk’s judgment section and asking them to look up the index number, or, if you want an immediate answer, by checking through a pay service like Lexis/Nexis.
